Haiku (also known as Haiku-Pawela) is a small town off the beaten path, known for it’s serene atmosphere as much as it's lush greenery.  Stretching from the north east coast of the island and inland a few miles from the beach tucked snuggly into the rainforest, Haiku is the perfect place to get away from it all - including the hustle and bustle of the more touristy areas of Maui. The fact that it’s in towards the rainforest means lots of green foliage and lots of rain. You will find most of the roads are paved, but many driveways are not. And homes here are as unique as they come. Many homes are custom and it’s remoteness means some are not only off the beaten path, but are also off the grid. In the heart of the area you will find Haiku Marketplace, a quaint shopping center filled with culinary delights, grocery, convenience stores and even a pilates studio. Right across the street is the best sushi on the island  IMHO - Nuka. They don’t take reservations and the small restaurant fills up fast so get their early and enjoy! Trust us, you’ll thank us for this one.
